The Scottish novelist, J. M. Barrie’s boy who refuses to grow up - Peter Pan - is in Dubai for the first time ever in the Middle East, with his friends from Neverland to enthrall children and family alike at the Arabian Center Mall for this Eid in Dubai Celebrations starting from November 27 to December 19 2009.
The tale of Peter Pan which will unfurl through a spectacular `Theatre on Ice’ will seek to transport children and family alike to a world of childhood and innocence, stirring nostalgia and offering a quality entertainment and edutainment break from the routine of life.
Commenting on the musical theatrical played by an accomplished group of world-renowned artistes and skaters, Ms. Laila Suhail, CEO of DSFO said: “Peter Pan on Ice is yet another testimony of Dubai Shopping Festival Office’s (DSFO) endeavor to bring meaningful as well as entertaining events and shows to Dubai’s residents and visitors alike. I am sure Peter Pan will stir the memories of childhood and its magical innocence in adults while it will be an out-of-the-world absolutely engrossing experience for children this Eid.”
The spectacular Broadway-style musical theatrical is brought to the Arabian Center Mall by Percept D’Mark Gulf (PDM), in collaboration with the British production company-Wild Rose Productions. Mr. Vee Deplidge, the producer of the company is renowned for his various `Theatre on Ice’ adaptations of fairy tales and other narratives which has been acclaimed world over for its sophistication and aesthetics.
Peter Pan
The fictitious character created by J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan, is a boy who refuses to grow up. Mischievous and magical, the character Peter Pan is said to have a biographical touch too with the character a literary equivalent of the novelist, who never had an ideal childhood and lived in the imaginative world of Neverland – thesameutopian world of impish childhoodinnocence the musical theatrical seeks to evoke at the Arabian Center Mall.
For children, the show will unveil a world of imagination with Peter Pan, the leader of the gang, Lost Boys interacting with mermaids, Indians, fairies and pirates in a land of imagination.
Cavaliere Guiseppe Arena, regarded as one of the most innovative artistic directors and choreographers in the world whose work includes the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, will be choreographing the shows.
A family destination show
Elaborating on the rationale of Peter Pan on Ice, Mr. Tim Jones, Chief Operating Officer, Arabian Center Mall, said: “We have positioned Arabian Center Mall as a family shopping destination and the choice of Peter Pan on Ice was certainly in line with our core strategy of attracting family and children. The Ice Rink
The specially made ice rink on which Peter Pan on Ice will be played is made out of over 5 tonnes of crushed ice. The rink is made at each venue exclusively and takes 140 man hours to build. The rink will be maintained at (minus) 15 degrees, three times colder than the home freezer, for the entire show period by expert technicians.
